ECB return to cricket guidelines

ECB return to cricket guidelines

Luke Barrow10 Jul 2020 - 13:34

With the return of cricket this weekend, the ECB have released their return to cricket guidelines.

It is required that all players, officials and spectators MUST read the FULL guidelines, which are attached, before they attend any matches.

Key points are:

  • There will be 'hygiene breaks' every six overs or 20 minutes, whichever comes sooner, where all players must sanitise their hands and the ball will be wiped clean with an antibacterial wipe
  • No saliva or sweat should be applied to the ball at any time
  • Changing rooms will be closed
  • There will be no teas so please all bring your own food and drink to the game
  • Social distancing should be implemented at all times (that's 2m or 1m+ if that is not possible)
  • 2m running lines will be marked on the square which batsmen must stick to when running between the wickets
  • All players should take a personal symptom test at home before coming to the ground and if they display any symptoms of COVID-19 they must stay at home and not take part in the game

We will also be required to record the names and contact numbers of all in attendance to support NHS test and trace.

Captains will set the guidelines out to players before all games to make sure everyone is aware of what is required of them.

These guidelines must be adhered to in all matches to ensure the safety of everyone involved so please make sure you read them beforehand and follow them closely.

I hope everyone is looking forward to getting cricket back this weekend in a safe way and I'm sure it will be thoroughly enjoyed by all!
